The Not So Happy Mother’s Day Warrior Card Exchange: Spreading Compassion and Care Across the Globe for Those Affected by Infertility and Loss
Returning for the third year, the "Not So Happy Mother's Day" Warrior Card Exchange is bringing together individuals from across the globe who have experienced infertility, pregnancy loss, child loss, or other heartbreaks that make Mother’s Day a difficult and emotional time. This global initiative, hosted by For the Barreness, is designed to connect people who understand the unique pain of this journey and create a sense of support, love, and solidarity.
The exchange allows participants to send and receive handwritten cards, offering a thoughtful and simple gesture of care to others who may be struggling during a time that can otherwise feel isolating. Whether you’re currently in the trenches of infertility, grieving a lost pregnancy, or someone who has walked the hard road and now offers support to others, the Warrior Card Exchange is an opportunity to share kindness and create meaningful connections.
Led by Meg Faith, the voice behind For the Barreness, the initiative reflects the blog’s ethos of blending humor, honesty, and emotional openness in sharing the realities of infertility and loss. The exchange ensures that no one has to face Mother’s Day without receiving something kind, offering a moment of compassion on a day that can be particularly challenging.
“This campaign is about more than just sending a card; it’s about sending a message of understanding, empathy, and strength to those who may feel invisible or alone,” said Meg Faith, founder of For the Barreness. “Mother's Day can be one of the hardest days of the year for so many, and through this exchange, we want to ensure that no one has to go through it without feeling seen or supported.”
Since its inception, the Warrior Card Exchange has expanded its reach to include people from all over the world, with participants sharing heartfelt stories of connection and healing. Last year, over 400 cards were exchanged across 40 countries with participants expressing how meaningful it was to receive a card from someone who truly understood their pain.
The exchange is open to anyone who has experienced difficulty in building their family or find Mother's Day challenging due to infertility, pregnancy loss, child loss, or any other challenge that makes Mother's Day difficult. Participants are invited to send a card to someone in need, and (if electing to) they will receive a card from another participant, ensuring that everyone is surrounded by a network of care and understanding.
By participating in the Not So Happy Mother’s Day Warrior Card Exchange, you are offering a powerful message of support and reminding others that they are not alone. Together, we can make Mother’s Day a little brighter for those who need it the most.
The deadline for registration is May 2nd, and cards must be mailed by May 4, 2025, to ensure they arrive before Mother’s Day on May 11, 2025.
